Aiming to develop an understanding of the concept of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the members of the Indang Association of Persons with Disability, Inc (IAPWDI) the Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC) conducted a seminar on Adult CPR on 20 October 2022, at Babaylan Training Room, GADRC, Cavite State University.

Part of the objective of the seminar is to establish a foundation for the Persons with Disability (PWD) first aider in the advancement of saving lives in the community and develop knowledge, skills, and attitude in providing immediate care to life-threatening conditions using CPR.

Mr. Florian H. De Borja, President of IAPWDI, delivered the welcome message expressing his appreciation to all attendees, especially to the Resource Speaker, and GADRC personnel while Ms. Nenita B. Panaligan, a faculty member of the College of Nursing (CoN), discussed the topic.

She highlighted that training programs such as basic first aid seminars should be conducted for the benefit of persons with disability and demonstrated to the participants how to obtain the pulse and pulse rate, as well as the cycle of the blood flow in the body.  Ms. Panaligan also added that understanding what is going on within a person’s body is vital, especially while providing first aid to minimize problems.

After the discussion, Ms. Panaligan showed how to properly execute CPR and urged the trainees to practice CPR beforehand because it requires a lot of strength and needs proper body posture to execute it effectively. (GCRSison)
